These web sites offer good information about scanners and scanning:

• UNT Scanning Standards - A great reference to guide your decisions about the best way to scan a variety of materials
• Introduction to Imaging - On-line book with great, in-depth information, especially if you already have a bit of a background in this area.
• Library of Congress - Personal Archiving site
• A few scanning tips - Lots of good information. Try to overlook the web site layout and the repetition of information...
• How Stuff Works - Very good, basic overview of scanners and how they work
• Digital Memories - Good information about scanning pictures, slides and negatives
• Scanning: DIY or Outsource - Great article from the Library of Congress (Added Jan 2013)
