The McGowan Funeral home operated in South Dallas from 1955 until it ceased doing business in the 1990’s. Their records, which have been acquired by the Dallas Public Library, are being indexed by members of the Dallas Genealogical Society. The incomplete index is online and can be searched. This collection is a great resource for African-American burial practices in the late twentieth century.
The Dallas Genealogical Society has a long history of documenting burials in and around Dallas throughout our 60 year history. We are now making records available online in our database.
The Dallas County Probate Records from 1850 to the early 1900’s are now digitized, indexed and available for viewing.
