District Court met, present: Honorable Bennett H. Martin presiding, A. J. Fowler, District Attorney, Samuel B. Pryor, Clerk, William Jenkins, sheriff. Sheriff returned the jury list which was duly executed except Isaac Ramsey, William Eals, Henry Tucker and Thomas Easten. Grand jury selected: Henson Davis, Samuel Sloan, George Cox, William Turner, David Shahan, Joel Walker, John S. Tucker, Hiram Bennett, Westin Perry, A. G. Walker, Abraham Sneider, Warren A. Ferris, Thomas A. Phillips, George Alvey, Thomas Johnson and William Pruitt. A. G. Walker, foreman, and Madison M. Bennett, Bailiff. Joseph King be discharged as a juror, being but five left it was ordered that a special venire be issued for nineteen other jurors.

Ordered by the court that J. M Robinson, William H. Newton, Caswell C. Overton, William T. Dunn, William Jackson each be fined $10. for contempt of court for not appearing to serve as jurors. Ordered that Frederick Moss be excused from jury duty and that James J. Chenoweth take his place on Jury #2. 

Wednesday May 22, 1850 
State of Texas vs William Freeland. Gaming.
Defendant defaulted and Andrew J. Mannin is security. Judgement against defendant is made final and the sum of $200. and costs of the suit are assessed.

Security is Andrew J. Manning; judgement against defendant is made final and the sum of $200 and costs are assessed.

State of Texas vs Saunders Elliott. A & B.
Case continued. 

State of Texas vs Robert Woodruff Gaming.
Neither defendant or his security appeared. Judgement by default is rendered against them and the sum of $100 is assessed.

State of Texas vs James Macky et al. A & B with Intent to Kill.
James Mackey does not appear, his securities being three times called, Jefferson Tilley and Henderson Couch personally appeared and filed their answer. Absalom Stephens and John Stephens, two other securities were in default. Judgement against Jefferson Tilley and Henderson Couch is to be set aside; and, the judgement against defendant, Mackey and securities, Absalom Stephens and John Stephens be made final and the sum is $120. together with the costs.

Case dismissed as non suit and the papers be remanded for action for justice of the peace. 

James M. Bennett, Admin. vs John Hill & Alex Scott. Injunction.
Defendant summoned but did not appear. Jury: Micajah Goodwin, John Edwards, William J. Snow, Edward Sharruck, Jr., John Stadden, James Sharruck, Robert Wilburn, A. J. Hewett, Perry Linney, William Babbitt, Samuel Haught, and George Linney. Verdict: They find for the plaintiff in the sum of $155.50, and a further $15.55 interest. Micajah Goodwin, foreman. Estate of Thomas Scott, dec'd. to have and recover from John Hill $171.05 and all costs, that the said Scott be forever impounded from the collection of claims mentioned and described in the plaintiff's petition. Jury failed to agree upon a verdict and a mistrial was declared. Case continued to next term. (ERROR was written across this entry).

No jury. Plaintiff to recover the sum of $252. and all costs.

Jury finds in favor of plaintiff 640 acres of land. /s/ J. Daniel. Plaintiff Walker to recover 640 acres from the State of Texas and the Clerk of the Court is to issue a certificate for 640 acres.
