Purpose: The Brown Bag SIG is for genealogists who want to learn advanced methodology skills and techniques. The group studies best practices, including using the Genealogical Proof Standard. Certification and Accreditation credentialing procedures are sometimes discussed in relation to best practices, but you do not need this as a goal in order to join. The name Brown Baggers came about from scheduling the meetings before, after or in between other groups during a lunch or supper hour. Everyone may bring a snack or brown bag meal if they like. Current Activities: For the first half of 2013 we will be using the book, Becoming an Excellent Genealogist: Essays on Professional Research Skills by Kory L. Meyerink,, MLS, AG, FUGA; Tristan L. Tolman, AG; and Linda K. Gulbrandsen, AG. The book is available at the store on the iCapgen.org website
